COMPANY CLASS DRESS CODE

Company dancers are required to take class in our official uniform
ordered from Tutu Dancewear in Bridgeville.

PRESCHOOL, ADORE, DECLARE

ALL OTHER CLASSES

All dancers must purchase the new three-piece uniform:
leotard, skirt and capri*.

*For groups other than last year’s Preschool, Adore and Declare classes – If your dancer has last year’s capri (tag must say “Weissman” and have the wide waistband), and they are in excellent condition, you may reuse them. A new leotard and skirt must be purchased for this season.

If you are certain of your dancer’s sizes, click here, (after July 25) to order online and pick up at Tutu.

The uniform (and any pieces of last year’s uniform) can be used for Ballet and Acro classes. Any Monday night Company dancers, that are also taking Monday’s Primary Acro, may wear their lilac leotard, but must have a black one for the May showcase.

Hair is in a ponytail or bun. All hair is secured.

Hair must be secured and off the dancer’s face and neck. Short bangs are permitted providing they don’t hang in their eyes. Use bobby pins and  ponytail elastics to secure the hair without additional hair adornment. Black headbands are permitted if they stay in place.

Dance Shoes

All dancers are required to take class in a PINK ballet slipper or the older girls have the option of using a jazz shoe. They can be any brand, but make sure you are not buying a ballet-looking bedroom slipper. Either shoe should fit like a glove and not have more than 1/4 inch growth room. A child might be pointing correctly, but the teacher can’t see it if there is too much room at toes.

If wearing ballet slippers, please do not pull the elastic string out of the ballet slipper. Tighten it to fit your child’s foot and then double knot it and either snip it or tuck in the bow. If you are cutting the strings, please have your child wear the shoe for 15 minutes and make sure it isn’t tied too tightly. If your child will be participating in the Spring Show, you will be required to purchase a brand-new shoe in March.

Required Show Shoes:

Company dancers are required to purchase new dance shoes for April’s Spring Production. You will receive information on which shoe to purchase from Tutu in March. Some groups are required to have two different styles of dance shoe.

*If your group is required to purchase split-sole ballet slipper, click here for instructions on how to sew the elastics.

Required Undergarment:

FOR CLASS:
Dancers, that wear a bra in class, must wear one with straps that are hidden by the leotard (no razor back or T-straps). If the dancer feels more supported by a sports bra, a black one with a scoop neckline (front and back) is permitted.

FOR PERFORMING:
All dancers, that need to wear a bra while performing, are required to get a flesh-toned dance bra with clear back and shoulder straps. You’ll need to find one that is supportive and covers cleavage. Tutu has a possible option in their store.

NOT ALLOWED IN THE STUDIO ROOMS:
  • Other than small stud earrings, please remove ALL JEWELRY. Dancers will be asked to remove any earrings that hang below their lobe.
  • Food, gum, candy, and any drinks other than water are not permitted in the studio rooms.
  • Glass water bottles are not permitted.
  • Cell phones are required to stay in the dance bag at all times.
ARRIVING FOR CLASS:
  • Dancers should enter the building in uniform or something similarly modest.
